Headline of the week...

According to The Register:

The Pope predicted economic Armageddon back in 1985

[Erm... surely The Bible predicted Armageddon (including financial) some time before 1985?]

But lo, the claim is that Ratzie apparently predicted the present financial meltdown. Then, tragically, the story reveals that he didn't.

Ratzie came up with some a priori suggestion that sentient things need moral codes or they wither. Financial markets are withering - therefore they lack moral codes. Therefore Ratzie predicted the economic Armageddon back in 1985. God give us strength....
