‘Lola’ is the music industry’s prescient endorsement of the Trades Description Act. And just as David Abraham and suspicions of concealment are worrying Gordon Brown, Lola and suspicions of concealment worried Ray Davies. The song flies in the face of one of life’s great truisms: ‘See the make up, don’t expect the todger.’
The video I’ve posted up is a kind of updated Lola for the Noughties. It adds definition to the phrase ‘Scary Pussy’. It’s a new spin. Progress of sorts. Painful, terrible, bloody progress.
